Entrance Exam : NIFT Entrance Exam
The National Institute of Fashion Technology or NIFT, as its popularly known, conducts an entrance examination for admission to Bachelor Programme in Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design, Communication Design, Apparel Production and Master Programme in Design Space, Fashion Management and Apparel Production. Admission to these courses of NIFT is done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in a written test and a Situation test/GD/Interviews.
Eligibility Criteria for the NIFT Admission Test: The eligibility criteria for the different courses of National Institute of Fashion Technology differ. For admission to Bachelor of Fashion Design, Leather Design, Accessory Design, Textile Design, Knitwear Design and Communication Design,candidates need to pass either the higher secondary examination in the 10+2 pattern from any recognized Central/ State Board of Secondary Examination or General Certificate Education Examination (London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka) at the Advanced (A) level or any Public School/Board/University recognized by the Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to 10+2 system or a pass grade in the Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Open School with a minimum of 5 subjects or a 3 or 4 years diploma in recognized by AICTE or a State Board of Technical Education. For admission to bachelor degree in Apparel Production, one has to pass the 10+2 or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry or Math or diploma in Engineering.
For admission to the Master programmes in Design Space, one needs to be a graduate from a recognized university in any design discipline (Fashion/Textiles/ Accessories/ Graphics/ Communication) or B.A. (Fine Arts)/B.Sc (Textiles & Clothing) or B.tech Textile or Design Diploma from NIFT/NID. For admission to Fashion Management Programme of NIFT one needs to have a Graduate or equivalent degree in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities or diploma in Accessory/Fashion Design/FIT from NIFT only. For admission to the Master degree programme in Apparel Production of NIFT, one needs to be a B.E./B.Tech (Textiles/ Apparel / Mechanical / Industrial / Production / Electronics / Computer Science/Information Technology) or B.F.Tech. (Apparel Production) from NIFT.
